Dante is meanwhile dealing with the death of his love Becky (Rosario Dawson) and their unborn child, both of whom were killed in a drunk driving accident years before. It’s small tidbits of information that devoted Smith fans, myself included, will pick up on and that makes this film resonate much, MUCH, deeper with them. Although Smith intended 2001’s Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back to bid adieu to these characters/situations, after one film he retreated and that led to 2006’s Clerks II.

Regardless, it’s becoming readily apparent that Paramount has a quality control (QC) issue that needs to be addressed going forward. When Randal survives a type of heart attack known as “the widow maker” because 80% of those who suffer it die, he decides that he has wasted his life talking about movies when he could have been making one. This turns into a real disappointment because Smith used to feel like the guy who didn't want to just gush praise all the time. Nearly 30 years after the first film created such a buzz, Clerks III demonstrates that Kevin Smith seems out of ideas. By using our site, you indicate that you accept these terms of use and that you agree to abide by them.I should preface this by stating my opinion that Clerks II is the best-looking film in the series, with a slightly desaturated but highly organic look that the other two films just don’t have, which is how I measure the presentation of Clerks III.

It may seem like more of the same at the outset, but those who stick with it will find a much more rewarding experience than they might have expected. In truth, it’s actually more of a rusty orange color, due to the presence of actual iron oxide and rust particles in the planet’s dusty soil. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. Like the second film, I didn’t quite expect the film’s third act to really hit emotionally and remind us of the better work Smith always shows signs of being able to pull off. There’s a great documentary on the artist, Chesley Bonestell: A Brush the Future, and you can see the same shot from the film in the doc below, with Mars rendered in the correct orange color. In true Kevin Smith fashion, the thing is overloaded with lengthy extras both detailed and messing around. Nonetheless, O’Halloran can’t bring believable emotion to Dante either, and it doesn’t help that most of those scenes match him with Dawson, an actual actor whose greater skills simply reinforce his lack of ability. And indeed, Paramount’s 2005 DVD got the color right (albeit in 8-bit color, here’s another screen pic of the DVD).

It may not fully earn its sentiment, but if you’re familiar with the other films in the Viewaskewniverse, you’re definitely going to appreciate it nonetheless. But this time around, we’re dealing with the heaviest material that these characters have ever been put through. Paramount chose not to employ additional color correction, but instead consulted original IB Technicolor prints and matched the look from there.

In the closing of the second film, he pretty much alluded to just staying in his comfort zone and doing what he knows best and being at peace with that. Keep in mind that it's home video sales that made Clerks III possible in the first place, so here is your big opportunity to support Smith's work. The Company reserves the right to change these conditions from time to time as it sees fit and your continued use of the site will signify your acceptance of any adjustment to these terms. For them, and for me personally, occasionally checking in with Dante and Randal has always been an enjoyable experience. Lionsgate Films UK is preparing a Blu-ray release of Kevin Smith's Clerks III (2022), starring Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes, Rosario Dawson, Jeff Anderson, and Brian O'Halloran. They’ve also just released Abe Lincoln in Illinois (1940) on Blu-ray for the first time mastered from a new 4K scan of the best surviving nitrate film elements. The material on this site may not be reproduced, distributed, transmitted, cached or otherwise used except with the prior written permission of The Digital Bits, Inc. However, too much of the material just echoes prior glories, as the self-referential Smith fails to find much new to say, and the lines tend to feel cliché within the Smith universe. Dawson makes a few appearances to talk to her husband about how he should get on with his life, helping Dante overcome his anxieties as production on Randal’s movie, and this story, nears its conclusion. As each film in the Viewaskewniverse has been released, it’s clear that he’s channeling where he’s at in his life through his characters.
