Description

The track was written by bassist Honi O’Rourke and Neon Leon, managing to distil the Max’s Kansas City era in under three minutes.

She's also a children's poet, so she's thrilled to bits to have three new rhyming picture books with Nosy Crow.

He was gigging at Max’s on the regular, seeing the incredible NY punk scene blossom before his eyes, and he even got to appear briefly in the exploitation film classic, Punk Rock (1977) with Elda and the gang.

The title track is simply irresistible, laying down the filthy scuzz guitar tone dreams are made of, in one of the ‘most potent anthems of NYC punk’ ever caught on tape, right up there with “Max’s Kansas City” by Jayne County, and headed straight into your pleasure receptors. With rare exceptions such as bank holidays, the book group meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 7.I read this book with a year 1 class on placement and they all enjoyed joining in with helping Leon the chameleon fit in! The book has an interactive element as it asks the reader to guess what page they will turn as they go to the sandy desert and the big, gray, rocky mountains.

In June 2005, Jane moved from the Netherlands back to Kent (near Deal) in England where she now lives. The band had some underground success but had difficulties because of several things such as that Neon Leon was a black rocker who wanted to follow his own musical ideas and not to do things as was common among other New York artists and groups. This is clipped from the Hozac liner notes: “Along with being roommates with Rolling Stones’ guitarist Mick Taylor (and dating his wife! She moved to London in 1988 to study illustration and fine art at St Martin's College and the Royal College of Art and ended up staying in England for 17 years. Her easy writing style is hugely engaging for young readers, as she provides maximum opportunity for you to holler at the book.

However I have had to totally change the story to remove what are, in my view, quite damaging themes. We use Clarity+ glazing which is a high-quality acrylic glass alternative, offering high UV resistance which doesn't yellow over time, is not easily scratched and is safe for use in children's bedrooms.

Like I mentioned before, this book can be used to dive deeper into heavier conversations with your students.
